Standing on the former site of the central YMCA at 40 College Street, the new headquarters building has become a landmark, paying tribute to the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force.

The general massing of the structure can be described as a series of glass block and granite cubes which step back as they rise along College and Grenville Streets. An octagonal twelve-story tower dominates the southeast corner of Bay and Grenville. A ten-story high atrium brings natural light into the heart of the building, and a domed roof crowns the elevator lobby atop the terracing mass.

The exterior salmon-colored granite treatment is carried throughout the ground floor and envelops the atrium walls. This effectively enhances the sense of transition to the exterior, as well as delineating the containment of office spaces which encompass the atrium.
