This unbuilt design proposal is for a residential/ performing arts mixed-use development in the heart of Toronto. Located on Victoria and Bond Streets, the complex would straddle between the Pantages theatre and the old Massey Hall. The first seven stories comprise the performing arts component which houses a dance school, specialty shops and a sophisticated theatre, complete with the necessary support spaces found in neighboring theatres. Rising above this on the south end is a thirty-one story residential condominium. Its raison d'être is one of economic necessity in making the project feasible. To the north is a smaller tower, the lower portion of which supports artist's studios, and the upper portion, offices. The lowest level of both towers supports amenity spaces which spill onto a rooftop garden. |
