In order to reduce operating costs, Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital decided to consolidade vacant spaces on the 3rd floor and convert it into flexible office space for leasing to community groups.
At 1,255 m2 (13,500 s.f.), the existing floor included a double corridor system which connected at the ends and at the middle where the nurse station was located. The altered scheme incorporates a single corridor which jogs at the former nurse station location, thereby providing a visually shortened corridor with a waiting lounge at the midpoint of the wing. Additional leaseable space was captured due to the reduction in corridor area. Furthermore, corridor width could be reduced due to the floor's business use nature. Bump-outs were provided in strategic locations along the corridor providing suite entrance identity while capturing yet additional leaseable space.
